Learning objectives:

·      To understand the cardinal value of a number.

·      Composition - To know that numbers are made up of two (or more) smaller numbers.

·      Conservation – To know that the total number does not change if items are rearranged.

·      Children learn that numbers refer to a set amount.

·      Children learn to see a whole number and its parts. This is important for children’s understanding of number.

·      Children begin to see patterns and relationships between numbers.
