Early Years First Aid & CPR is one of the most important skills individuals working within early childhood and educational services can have. An early years first aid course is a specialised form of training that organisations often require a number of staff to have when working with children.
It is important to note that by attending this training, you will gain insights into some of the essentials of paediatric first aid, however, you must also understand that to become fully competent in this area, further in depth practical training on a similar course will be required within the your place of work.
Infants and children are one of the most vulnerable age groups to accidents. So even being aware or carrying a basic understanding from our early years first aid course can help. However, dedicated first aid and CPR training for infants and young children is essential for the following reasons:
· Children can’t tell an adult when something is wrong, so knowing how to recognise the signs of an injury or potential distress can help in many situations
· It provides the childcare care specialist with the necessary knowledge regarding scenarios such as a choking infant or child-related trauma
· CPR is applied very differently to infants and children in comparison to adults – caregivers must know how to safely treat younger patients in any situation.
For early childhood and educational services, having a first aid course or qualification specific to infants and children can help staff recognise, prevent, and respond in the event of an accident or emergency.
To following three modules will look at some of the key areas care givers must be aware of when it comes to both managing as well dealing with any potential paediatric first aid situation:
